Sterling’s U-1000 series Linear Polyurethane Topcoats are 2-component coatings which are unmatched in high initial gloss, gloss and color retention, chemical resistance, and long term durability.
The base, when combined with the catalyst, is composed of aliphatic isocyanate resin and unsaturated polyester resin.
These Topcoats are designed to be used over Sterling U-1000 Primer or Sterling Epoxy Primers.
This coating system offers many advantages which are not found in conventional coatings.
Sterling U-1000 series topcoat color bases may be applied by airless or conventional spray (1:1 mix), or brush or roller (2:1 mix) –
For spraying, mix 1 part U-1000 series color base to 1 part U-1001C spraying catalyst.
(If an accelerator is used due to low temperatures, add the accelerator to the color base before adding the catalyst.)
Before adding spray reducer, allow a base/catalyst induction period of at least 30 minutes.
To attain spraying viscosity, add up to 50% of an appropriate Spray Reducer (U-1385/U-1014/U-1275 or U-3720) to suit the ambient conditions and applicator technique.
For brushing mix 2 parts color base to 1 part U-2964 brushing catalyst, allowing an induction period of approximately 45-60 minutes before adding any thinner.
